Mrs Perold’s Amazing Banana Bread!


500 ml flour

125 grams butter/marg

250 ml sugar

2 eggs

60 ml water

1 tspn baking soda

1 tspn baking powder

3 to 4 ripe bananas

pinch of salt


1. Preheat oven to 180 C

2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy

3. Add bananas and beat thoroughly

4. Beat eggs well, then add to mixture

5. Sift the flour and salt and then add alternatively with the bicarb dissolved in water

6. Mix thoroughly

7. Stir in baking powder

8. Put it in the oven for 50 to 60 minutes
